The PS1916D1U 16-Outlet 1U Rack-Mount AC Charger Power Strip provides high-speed charging for up to 16 mobile devices simultaneously, such as notebooks, netbooks, tablets and other battery-intensive electronics that use a NEMA 5-15P plug.

This power strip features 16 built-in NEMA 5-15R AC outlets attached to convenient dongles that easily accommodate large transformer plugs. It’s compatible with all devices that charge via standard AC outlets (such as Chromebooks, MacBook Airs and Ultrabooks) or user-supplied USB power adapters (such as smartphones, iPads, Kindles, Kindle Fires and Surface models).

The all-steel PS1916D1U mounts into 1U of two- or four-post rack space using the included hardware. The NEMA 5-15P input plug is attached to a 15-foot power cord long enough to reach a PDU or AC wall outlet. A 15-amp circuit breaker protects against overloads and short circuits. A transparent cover guards the lighted on/off switch from accidental shutdowns.

This item is pretty great but it's almost too many outlets - can get tight trying to run that many cables to a 1RU device.

Ask me about my Dongles...

While this does suit it's purpose and gets the job done. It looks a little.... odd so to speak on my Cisco lab rack. With 16 little dingle dongs hanging from the top, my buddies frequently ask me if I fondle them at times. While this may be true, I digress and kindly ask them to try it for themselves. Now we all have the same device and reminisce on the fact that it reminds us of our days in college. Great buy, would buy again after I wear them out from all my joule "yanking."

If you are installing in a small case and you need wiggle room this might not be the best bet bec...

Does its job well. If you are installing in a small case and you need wiggle room this might not be the best bet because these plugs are not very flexible and take up a lot of room in a case. If its studio mounted or a really big (over 12 positions) then its probably great. The Belkin 12 port power strips work a little better for compact situations. But this thing is certainly beefy and bombproof, and its a great concept.
