Purchased 3 units to connect 3 offices using IPSec & DDNS. Actual setup did not take very long, but does require the person doing it to have previous experience working with networking equipment to efficiently navigate the different configuration screens. Online resources were helpful but were not easy to find. Finding the right material to help configure the devices took the most time. Would like to have had mounting screw holes on the bottom of the unit like the previous VPN router had (Cisco RV042G). Had to purchase a separate mounting bracket to mount the TP-Link router to the wall in one of the locations.

Extremely satisfied with how easy this device was to setup and configure in an existing network environment. The management console in the Omada Controller software makes configuration a breeze and the features are more than enough for personal/small-business usage. Bought it at a great price and paired it with another TP-Link POE Switch and Wireless AP. TP-Link never disappoints for your simple networking needs and they sell quite a broad range of products as complex as nano-routers!

I had high hopes for this device. The plan was to replace a pfSense computer with a simpler gateway/firewall with an easy to set up VPN. It wasn’t until I got the ER605 hooked up that I discovered the lack for DNS customization to allow me to create aliases to one host for docker containers. Even after the latest firmware upgrade - that functionality just does not exist. I started to read forums on the TP-Link support pages only to find many complaints about this issue. I will watch for firmware upgrades of this v2 model but until there is a way to add DNS forwarding, this will be a paperweight.
