Power went out during training for a new job, and the UPS FAILED COMPLETELY. Zero tolerance for training absenteeism, therefore my new employment was terminated after only 2 days. The battery is too low to stay on for more than 1 minute. It has never been under load due to no power until today. And now I’ll either have to wait to buy a new battery or toss the unit, as the 2 year warranty isn’t worth a plugged nickel without a support site to request from. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM TRIPP-LITE.
Anticipate the size. It's not a typical slender surge protector. This thing has some weight to it. I bought it to protect against power surges/outages/and any other weirdness in my electricity for my very expensive computerized sewing embroidery machine. The description says $100k protection-hoping I won't have to use it. (4 stars only bc, unlike with audio equipment such as a bass guitar/amp that suddenly doesn't have a "hum", I can't tell if it's doing its job in the current application. Fingers crossed.)
My unit had a burnt electrical smell that was very concerning. Apparently, there is an issue with some of these units smelling bad, and need to be replaced. Tech support was great, did not require mailing unit back to them; but to recycle it. The only issue now is, it's taken months to get a replacement because of shipping delays.
Been wanting an ups for the last 10 years. Finally sprung on the bc600tu after loosing a desktop pc to a power outage. Super easy set-up plug in and let charge overnight then plug in and go. Plugging in the supplied usb cable will show battery in taskbar. Downloading the software will give you many option for shutdown and more. Made in vietnam but backed by 2 year warranty and based in Chicago. Well worth the saving purchasing on amazon.
I am a big Tripp Lite fan. I had a SMART1050 in this location and it was over 10 years old, ready for it's 3rd battery replacement. However, the unit got zapped during a recent power outage and new batteries did not bring it back to life. Not a problem - it was old and did its job protecting the equipment connected to it. While looking for a replacement UPS, I was not very happy about the alternatives and the reviews I was seeing. I was considering Eaton, APC, as well as various Tripp Lite models - nothing was really jumping out at me for the prices I was seeing. When I found this Tripp Lite model, I contemplated it relative to the SMART1050 which I was extremely happy with. I don't have a need for the LED display or advanced features of some of the models currently available. Pure sine wave and more power capacity would be nice, but again, I was not happy with what I was reading about for what was available. So, I went for this unit and purchased two to replace the single SMART1050. So far, I'm extremely happy with these. I charged them up for 24 hours, installed, and they're doing the job. I pulled the plug on each just to be sure they'd kick in, and they did fine.
